ADAPting to Difficulty

Across the country, several hundred people are on waiting lists to get antiretroviral drugs from the AIDS Drug Assistance Program, which provides them to those who can't afford them. The lists came into stark lights last year when several people in South Carolina died while waiting for treatment. The deaths, and an accompanying protest, are presumably what prompted the state's health department to ask for supplemental funding for the program. Now that Ryan White has been reauthorized, it's worth watching to see whether we'll see those lists dwindle away.
